OK... It's the week of Halloween and therefore, we have been given the assignment of listing some "SCARY" tunes. A 'Fright Fest' of music, if you will.
Of course, Jen, from My Skewed View... is our "Hostess with the Mostess" and bangs out all these assignments. This one is Mix Tape #31... Our Co-Host is Kristi, from Finding Ninee... They have ALL the other participants listed so you can check out a variety of 'Frightful Tunes' this week. Click on those Links and go get SPOOKED!!! As for here, well, this is my version of SCARY... Let's get this party started!!!
#1: It's only fitting that I start this 'party' off with some Alice Cooper. How about some Welcome To My Nightmare. The title says it all. Enjoy... (source)
#2: Next up: ELO with a bit of haunting tune. Catch the 'frightening' 1:30 intro and then the remaining Instrumental has the effect of, say, in a movie, one on a manic run to find a 'normal and safe' place. This clip actually refers to UFO's. Fire On High. Enjoy... (source)
#3: Let's lighten it up just a bit. The Atlanta Rhythm Section (ARS) and their version of a Spooky kind of lady. Some nice Instrumentals from this casual, 'spooky' tune. Enjoy... (source)
#4: For me, the Ending Lyrics of this tune are one of, if not the, most Haunting that there is in music: "Relax, said the night man. We are programmed to receive. You can check out anytime you like, but you can never leave." The Eagles with Hotel California. Enjoy... (source)
#5: And finally, hoping to put a smile on your mug, I leave you with an oldie from another time. Bobby "Boris" Pickett with The Monster Mash. I hope you enjoy the 'humor' from this 'scary' tune... (source)
And there you have it. Another one in the books. Hope you enjoyed. Always fun putting these together. Have a "SPOOKY, SCARY" good Halloween. Hope to see you on Happy Friday (if you survive the night before). Til then...
Be safe, be smart, and show your Smile... It's Twisted Mix Tape Tuesday
adios... vaya con dios
Ha! We both chose Alice, although I went with the family friendly Muppet since I messed with Jen's theme (again).
ReplyDeleteHA!!! I saw that one and thought for just a half second... But then, well, I went with this one.
DeleteAnd no prob that you did. It's what this is all about. Thanks for the visit, Slu

ReplyDeleteThanks Deb. Much appreciated. Glad you stopped by, Slu
DeleteMy grandfather had found a box with a collection of 45's that he gave to me when I was a child. It was full of Beatles, Beach Boys and such, but my favorite was the Monster Mash. My brother and I would dance around like Frankenstein's monster and sing along with the chorus. Nice memories. And a fantastic list of scary music Slu!
ReplyDeleteThanks Dreamer... as soon as I saw the theme, I knew I wanted to include MM for the humor of it. Glad you liked it. Appreciate the visit, Slu
DeleteWell done! Starting with Alice is genius. I almost went with "Feed my Frankenstein", but couldn't figure a way to work it in my story line. Hotel California has always reminded me of a place rock stars go to after they die, even though I visited the place when I was in California a few years ago. Great list!
ReplyDeleteThanks Rich... With the theme, I figured Alice was a good place to start. Ha!!!
DeleteThanks for stopping by, Slu
You had me at alice but giving me ARS (from Doraville, just about 20 miles from my house) was like a Halloween gift.
ReplyDeletethanks dude
Happy Candy Day
My Man... Thanks. Glad to see you here. Always appreciated, Slu
DeleteI heard "Hotel California" last week, and definitely considered it for my list. I'm glad you decided to include it. That last line is scary.
ReplyDeleteThanks... Absolutely. I have always thought so. Thanks for stopping by, Slu
DeleteThe story behind Hotel California is scary indeed! And its alleged connections too! Awesome list.
ReplyDeleteThanks Michelle... Would love to read it sometime. Appreciate the visit, Slu
DeleteI had welcome to my nightmare on my list, and the others are new, except Monster Mash. LOVE the monster mash!
ReplyDeleteCoolbeans!!! Had to include the MM!!! Thanks for the visit, Slu
DeleteTHANK YOU! I was waiting for Spooky! I was all like WTH??? Don't these people know a great Halloween song when they hear one??
ReplyDeleteGreat list. Big fan of the Monster Mash!!!
Spooky is a given with me... Thanks. Appreciate you stopping by, Slu
DeleteHotel California is creeptastic. That one didn't cross my mind. I think I burnt myself out on The Eagles so badly years ago, that I tend to veer away from them these days. I suppose Witchy Woman would have worked too.
ReplyDeleteYes it is... and yes, it would have. Didn't think of that one. Thanks, Slu
DeleteYou know, I was going to include Welcome To My Nightmare until I decided to go in a snarky direction. Nothing but respect for Alice! And yeah - Hotel California totally has that creepy vibe and of course the great line "...BUT YOU CAN NEVER LEAVE!!!". Muahahahaha!
ReplyDeleteThanks Linda... Yes, Agreed!!! Ha... Thanks for the visit, Slu
DeleteIt just isn't Halloween without Monster Mash!
ReplyDeleteHa!!! Glad you liked it... Thanks for the visit, Slu
