So, this week, it's being billed as a "Free For All." AKA 'Anything Goes!!!' Kinda diggin' that. Dealers Choice, if you will. That said, I will be all over the board and try and cover several different sounds. But, it will come down to some tunes I really like and have not covered in this space yet. Hang in there with me...
Our "Hostess with the Mostess" is Jen, of course, and she can be found here... Her Co-Host is Kristi and she can be found here... This is Mix Tape #32... I hope you will click on their Links and check out some truly amazing tunes for the Free For All Mix Tape this week from all the other participants.
Just gonna put some Tunes on here that I like with absolutely no particular or singular theme. Let's get this party started...
#1: How about some Dick Dale??? I seriously had a hard time deciding which clip I would play for this spot. I absolutely love the Studio Version. But, I found this little Live Gem and it is so good, I just had to Post it here. Talk about a workout... Misirlou (Live). Please Enjoy... (source)
#2: Next up is a long time fave from the Pretenders. Does not get a lot of air play, but I like it. Mystery Achievement. Another Live Version. Enjoy... (source)
OK... This space is meant as a means of having fun, expressing our taste in Music, and letting others get a feel for what we, as individuals, like. I like this next tune a lot. There were several video clips to choose from. I struggled with putting the one I eventually chose on here, simply because it can, and very well might, offend some. It is not meant to by any means. It is, however, a reality in our World Today. I am a Huge Supporter of our Troops around the world and the Sacrifices they make each day for our Freedom here in America. That said, I hope you enjoy the tune. I hope you understand why I chose this particular video clip. Thanks for letting me get a little serious for just one tune!!!
#3: From Tim McGraw, If You're Reading This. Enjoy... (source)
#4: OK, let's lighten it back up a bit. How about some Weezer... Island In The Sun. Enjoy... (source)
#5: Next up: Two minutes of Rockin'... Blur with Song 2. Enjoy... (source)
#6: Next, for my Smooth Jazz taste, a tune from ex Jefferson Starship member, Craig Chaquico, who has found his niche in Smooth Jazz, along with Russ Freeman. Riders of The Ancient Winds. Enjoy... (source)
#7: And finally, let's go out with a Smile with an 'Oldie' from back in the day: From Dr Hook... The Cover of The Rolling Stone. I Hope You Enjoy... (source)
Done!!! Thanks for hangin' with me. This was a blast. I love "Free For All's."
Be safe, be smart, and always Smile... adios!!! vaya con dios

ReplyDeleteDreamer... Thanks!!! Glad you stopped by, Slu
DeleteDickie Dale!!!! Who would have thought he would be remembered here? Great choice, to say the least! Very familiar with all of these, believe it or not, except for the CC and RF tune. Is Russ still with the Rippingtons? Good job, sir! Good job!
ReplyDeleteI've wanted to put him on here for a while... And yes, RF is still with the Ripp's.
DeleteThanks!!! Glad you stopped by, Slu
I love your eclectic taste in music Slu. Since I never heard of Dickie Dale, I googled him to make sure he wasn't a porn star.

DeleteFirst of all ALWAYS feel free to be you, love that song. Also, Craig Chaquico was intro'd to me by my husband when we first met. He had a boat then, bfore we had a kid and all the money went down the tubes... ANYWHOO that was what we always listened to on the boat... great memories, great list! Thank you!
ReplyDeleteThanks Jen!!! Cool Story... Appreciate the visit, Slu
DeleteI love Tim McGraw's song. I dont even know why there would be controversy over it. Is nothing safe these days? Anyway, I enjoyed getting to you through the songs.
ReplyDeleteThanks... much appreciated. Glad you stopped by, Slu
DeleteDick Dale! (love seeing the people who create such 'fundamental' music in 'real life'), #5 was interesting, one of those songs I like, but didn't have a clue who did it…usually heard on a car radio. excellent.
ReplyDeleteand Craig Chaquico I remember when he was the teen guitar phenom who got invited to the Starship… it was totally one of those tales of rock… keep practicing, maybe *I'll* get the call. (never did…lol)
My Man... Good to see you here. Always puts a smile on my mug. Thanks, Slu
DeleteSeriously one great list. I actually didn't know Dick Dale. But see why you and all these other dudes love him. He makes me want to learn to play the electric guitar. Awesome stuff.
