Week 44... Love, My Wife, & 2 Awards: Holy Smokes!!!

Greetings:

This week, I have a couple of things I would like to "run by you."  This Post is what I would call a "Two-Fer." So please hang in there with me as I just can't seem to say anything in a "quick" way.  At least, that's what Donna often times alludes to.  So here goes...

#1...  (With a Bullet)

Around a week or so ago, I was on Facebook.  I was "scrolling" through several posts and came across a post from one of my friends that, quite frankly, I don't know at all.  He is listed as a "friend" of mine from my years in MLM, or Network Marketing.  The first few words of his post caught my attention:  "I lost my best friend today."  Below those words, there was a framed picture "collage" of a female.  I clicked on his name and went to his page.  There, I would see literally hundreds of comments from his friends and family offering their condolences for the loss of this man's wife.  As I read each comment, tears welled up in my eyes as I imagined his pain, his sudden loss.  I saw pictures of their three small children, now, suddenly, without their mother.  She was 30 years old.  As I continued scrolling his page, I came across a post of his that stated, with a heavy heart, that his wife had been in a fatal accident earlier that day.  I posted that my thoughts and prayers were with him and his family and that I was so sorry for his loss.  As I continued reading on his page, my thoughts turned to...  What if this were me???  What if I had suddenly learned that Donna had been involved in a fatal accident and now, was no longer in my life???  Those tears that had been just barely hanging on to my eyeballs, were now easily streaming down my cheeks as I thought of, in the blink of an eye, losing the absolute "Love of my Life."

On Easter Sunday last week, I sat in Church listening to our Pastor speak of watching "Old Yeller" when he was a young child with his family.  He spoke of how his Dad had instilled in him, even as a young child, that "Big Men don't cry."  He went on to say that as he watched the main scene in the movie, he cried like a baby.  Indeed, he said that, yes, "Big Men do cry."  As I listened to him, I thought about the above story and how it had affected me and also how much his Dad would have been disappointed in me Epic Fail, because I did have tears that day.  Yeah, I might go around thinking I'm Billy B. A., but when it comes to losing Donna (or the Kids), heck, I'm just a complete "softy."  But, I digress...

Dictionary.com defines Love as:  A profoundly tender, passionate affection for another person.  How does one describe the depth of such love???  As "cliche" as this might sound, I truly love Donna!!!  And in a way that I'm not so sure I can fully verbalize.  She is my life, she is my best friend, and she makes me feel like I have never felt before.  I have never been this happy in my life.  When she looks at me and smiles, my heart just melts right there, just as it did the day I met her on a Blind Date over 14 years ago.  Going to work for each of us aside, I have no desire to go anywhere or hang out without her, although, we do at times.  I just can't imagine my life without her in it.

This would be my "Little Bride" in her "Artsy" Photo...

My heart aches for a Facebook "friend" that I don't even know.  I can't pretend to know what he is going through right now.  But, I know this...  If that day should ever come and Donna is taken from me, I will have lost "My Best Friend."  I will have lost the "Absolute Love of My Life."  And the tears will "Flow Like a River" from this "Big Man."  Now, Donna will read this and say," Baaaaaabe!!!  You have me 6 feet under already."  Well, no, I don't...  I've just had thoughts on "what if."  I'll say this though:  I do know where her play-list of Mortal Music is now.  Ha!!!  So, to my wife, Donna...  Know this:  I'm All In Babe!!!  I love you like no other, and will until my last breath.

#2...  (With a Huge Smile)

Last week, Two of my Blogging friends recognized Slu's World with a New Award.  So, I am very excited to "hang" two more Awards on my upper left Sidebar.  It is always a "Super Stoked" kind of feeling for me when fellow Bloggers have visited my Blog, liked it enough to come back, and come back each week, and then, up and bestow an Award on it and all.  Wow!!!  I'm truly thankful...  Bloggersville is an awesome place!!!

The first...  From Blogger Marcia Doyle, she has acknowledged my Blog with the Very Inspiring Blogger Award.  Just want to say that I sincerely appreciate the recognition from Marcia.  She has been a friend since soon after I started Blogging almost 1 year ago.  You will find her Blog at Menopausal Mother... She is the Master of Funny.  All you need to know about her Blog is that she has 1,625 Followers on her site!!!  I have 20.  Enough said.  Please stop by her Blog and check her out.  You will find your smile, or more.  And now, The Blogger Award:

Thanks Marcia...
The Award comes with a set of Rules...  *****See Below*****

The second...  From Blogger Jon Whiting, he has acknowledged my Blog with the are you ready for this??? Epically Awesome Award of Epic Awesomeness.  Now, you just can't beat that!!!  Jon, thanks Buddy.  I appreciate it very, very much. You will find his Blog at Speaking My Mind...  Jon is a "straight shooter."  On his Blog, you will find his Opinions, Views, & Ideas.  Also, a "Day in the Life" from Jon.  He is an avid fisherman.  Please stop by his Blog and check him out.  You will be glad you did.  And now, The Blogger Award:

Thanks Jon...
So, go ahead and scroll back up and look at my left Sidebar so you can check out my Awards "area."  Ha!!!  Gotta love it.

The Award also comes with a set of Rules...  *****See Below*****

OK...  This would be "Below."  I have decided that I will follow up with the set of Rules on my Blog for next week, so as not to "overload" this Blog today.  Kind of like Part 2 next week, if you will.  You know, a "Two-Fer."  I hope you will hang in there with me and come back next week.  It will be Inspiring and certainly Epic as well...  Just kidding, but come back anyway.

Takin' It "To The House"
ok, that's football lingo (FYI)

MusicThis week, I want to share with you a song that I really like a lot.  Although I'll be honest...  I have listened to the words and I have read the lyrics and I'm not so sure I have a clue as to what he/they is/are trying to say.  That said, the Band is Coldplay and I have heard them frequently this week on Pandora.  The song is Clocks and I hope you will give it a listen.  See if you can figure it out.

Market Watch:  At the close yesterday, Facebook had a slight upswing, closing at 27.07.  The Market as a whole closed at over 14,600.

The EndI appreciate you stopping by Slu's World.  Again, Thanks to Marcia and Jon.  Please know I'm smiling!!!  I hope you'll check back in next week.  Til then...

Be safe, be smart, and always Smile...  It's "Happy Friday"

  5. I know exactly what it's like to lose a loved one unexpectedly and completely out of the blue. It was a phone call that I never ever want to receive again. There is not time to say sorry, I miss you, I love you or anything else. So I encourage you and anyone else to make sure that you tell them you love them everyday. Don't let the sun go down on your wrath no matter how bad things get. Say sorry if you mean it. Spend time with them because it could be the last. Have fun and make every day last. It's no joke because nobody comes back from the dead, finito. Is that Donna in the photo? What a gem you have there. Love her as if it was your last day. You don't need hindsight when it comes to things like this. Take care of her mate.

On a lighter note, congratulations with both your awards, and you deserve it. You have a great blog so continue the good work. I look forward to reading your answers next week as I'm sure it will be interesting and entertaining.
Slu, getting choked up mate ......

  9. Nothing like a two-fer with a "to be continued" at end! What a way to get people to come back!

Your first topic was a very real look at life, and how fortunate we are to have it, and those in it. I've had similar experiences where I have been forced to consider the "whit-ifs". And it always surprises me the depth of emotion that comes with simply thinking about a situation, much less being in the middle of it for real. My heart goes out to your "friend" as well. But I think this is a lovely tribute to your wife and best life friend. Your first topic is the real reason I keep coming back to hear what you have to say.

As far as the award. Glad to hear about the smile. That's mission accomplished for me. I'll be looking forward to the next one Slu!
