It's Twisted Mix Tape Tuesday (90's)

Hey Yo:

So, this week, we delve into the 90's as we continue our tour of the Decades.  That would be the Marching Orders from our "Hostess with the Mostess," Jen over @ My Skewed View... and Co-Host, Kristi, over @ Finding Ninee...  For some really great music, please take the time and check out all the Mix Tapes by clicking on their Links.

I don't really have a theme this week...  Just gonna showcase some tunes I really like.  No statements, just music I really like, in order of their release..  That said, let's "Get This Party Started."

#1:  Released in 1991, The Red Hot Chili Peppers with their Under the Bridge.  Enjoy...  (source)

#2:  Released in 1991, Guns N' Roses with their November Rain.  Enjoy...  (source)

#3:  Released in 1994, The Pretenders with their I'll Stand by You (this one has some special meaning with my little bride & myself).  Enjoy...  (source)

#4:  Released in 1994, The Cranberries with their Zombie.  Enjoy...  (source)

So this week, I am sticking with just 5...  My "Walk Off Home Run" is:

#5:  Released in 1995, Oasis with their Champagne Supernova.  Enjoy...  (source)

So, that's my list for this week.  I hope you enjoyed it as much as I did.  Remember to head over to Jen's @ My Skewed View... to catch Mix Tape 16 and ALL the other participants with some great Mix Tape's.

Have a great week and I hope to see ya back on Happy Friday.  Til then...

Be safe, be smart, and always Smile...  It's "Twisted Mix Tape Tuesday"

  1. Slu - good job Dude! Champagne Supernova - great song - fun to sing. Chrissie and her Pretenders any day of the week. And November Rain? Epic. Hey, that reminds me of that song "Epic". I should've included that. "Listen! What is it?"

Anyway...November Rain...man, did I love to sing that song like Axel and drive everybody around me crazy. I love all the movements to that song and the video is wild. Great list!

  2. Well done Slu. You came up with some of the best "relaxing" music of the 90's. Your choices remind me of one of my favorite 90's song (Far Behind-Candlebox).

  3. I don't think I participated for most of the 90's so I don't know any of those songs except for I'll Stand by You. Good one!

  5. "Under the Bridge" I think is one song that will stand the test of time. Laugh if you want, but I never knew the Cranberries song title was "Zombie" Must have heard it a few hundred times, just never knew the title. What a voice on Delores. You had me with this whole list except for Oasis. This was the beginning of the end of 90s music for me. I just don't feel it. Good choice with Chrissie and GNR. Quite enjoyable list.

    1. Kat... that's funny only because up until a few years ago, I always thought the title was 'In Your Head.' Ha!!! And your comment on Oasis: I get it... My 90's list, including songs for next week, totaled 6 songs. The one I left off for this week was a Country tune. Still not sure if I will include it next week, but Clark has inspired me to at least mention some Country for next week.

I appreciate your thoughts. Have a great week, Slu

  6. Your list is exactly what I was trying to get at in my comment on the decade, the idea of a more human scale to the music. I mean you have GNR and more a than a few Marshall being gainfully employed, but to my ear/mind, the music in the 90s got minimalist in a way that's kinda hard to explain, but the feeling is there among the songs in your list.

    nice

    1. Dude... I get it. This was my toughest "to list' by far. My choices, for me and what I'm about were so few. That's why I was so glad to see your Alan Jackson selection. As I said to Kat, you have inspired me to at least mention some Country next week, when, otherwise, my choices are void.

Thanks so much for stopping by, Slu

  7. Slu - this is so uncanny. Originally my list had Under the Bridge on it, but there was a really sad story and the whole list was pretty funny, so I thought I'd toss it. I am so glad you put it on your list because now it's out there AND on youtube! Also was going to put Lenny Kravitz Always on the Run, with Slash on guitar. So there's also that coincidence! Great list Slu, just great!

  10. I love that we usually have a matching band. It's like we're psychically connected. It must be the Texas thing. Thank you for letting me comment. (Only saying that because you are going to write "Thank you for dropping by") ;)

  11. I LOVE your list. We danced to that Pretenders song at our wedding. I wasn't all hip to the hop, I had a wide range of listening - well, whatever was on top 40. But this was good stuff. Takes me back to my college days. Awesome.
