OK... Another week of the 60's. We are talking about a Decade here, so, it's kinda tough to grab 5
Such a cool idea from Jen over @ My Skewed View... Hit that Link and check it out. There, you will find all the participants and their Mix Tapes too. Awesome music and memories is what you'll find. Jen's Co-Host each week is Kristi over @ Finding Ninee...
Over the Summer, as per Jen, we are going to take a tour of each Decade, so this is going to get really interesting as we go forward. Last week, I had a bit of a "theme" going with my selections... This time, I'm going about this a little differently.
The first 3 would not necessarily make "my" list, but I'm including them for the nostalgia ingredient. I hope these bring back some "memories" for ya. Let's get this party started...

#1: If you had the radio on at all during the 60's, you heard this song over and over and over. Tommy James & The Shondells released this in 1963 and came back and re-released it in 1966. Hanky Panky. Enjoy... (source)
#2: Next up: There is no way that you can hear this song, even today, and not "air out" your vocal chords. It's pretty much impossible. Released in 1968 from The Foundations, I dare you not "sing out loud" here with Build Me Up Buttercup. Enjoy... (source)
#3: This next selection made my list strictly because of the "Hoot Factor" that it is and when you hear it, I hope it brings a smile. Nancy Sinatra
OK... These next 3 represent what I would definitely have on "my" list, in order of their release...
#4: Released in November 1967 by The Beatles and on the Magical Mystery Tour Album: I Am The Walrus. Enjoy... (source)
#5: Right back again with The Beatles with their May 1968 Release of The White Album, Helter Skelter. Enjoy... (source)
#6: Ever watched a Martin Scorsese movie? Then, you've heard of these guys and this next song. Ha!!! Actually, who hasn't??? Released in November 1969, off of the Let It Bleed Album, The Rolling Stones with Gimme Shelter. Enjoy... (source)
The Finish...
#7: OK... For me, My "Walk Off Home Run." Triple D Time: I Double Dog Dare ya to not "get up, move & groove" to this one. Or, at least, think about it... Ha!!! Released in 1969, from my Main Man, Sly (And the Family) Stone. Get your Groove On with I Want to Take You Higher. Enjoy... (source)
Wow!!! In the books... Gotta know I Loved It!!! Hope you enjoyed it as well. Remember to head over to Jen's at My Skewed View... and check out ALL the participants and their Mix Tapes for this week.
Thanks for stopping by and I hope to see you on Happy Friday. Til then...
Be safe, be smart, and always Smile... It's "Twisted Mix Tape Tuesday"

Thanks... You just can't ever go wrong with The Beatles.
DeleteAppreciate you stopping by, Slu
I'm 6 for 7...with the exception of #1, these all live on my mp3 player! GREAT choices.
ReplyDeleteAnd now, I'm probably going to have to have a shot or two to get Buttercup out of my head if I want to get any sleep at all tonight...or, rather, this morning. :-)
No Hanky Panky??? Ha!!! And it's impossible to not sing with Buttercup.
DeleteThanks so much for stopping by, Slu
Excellent choices again this week. Gimme Shelter is tied for my favorite Stones' tune (with Honky Tonk Women).
ReplyDeleteThanks... Next week, I will have my #1 Fave Stones tune: excited!!!
DeleteThanks for dropping by, Slu
Excellent choices!!! DANG, Nancy Sinatra just oozes sex appeal, and those boots are definitely made for more than just walkin'!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteDebster... Ha!!! Thanks & I just could not "Not Include" Nancy. lol
DeleteThanks for dropping by... Have a great day, Slu
Because I'm on vacation with the whole family my mom is sitting at the table while I check out all of the lists. While listening to Linda's my mom was like "can you turn that down?" But your list, well the first 3 songs at least, she was singing along. Is that good? I mean... hmm.... Not trying to say your old. I mean my husband is old. Eh well. You know what I mean. This list is so awesome, and I really don't mind the extra songs, even I slip up every once in a while! I also love the fact that all of the lists that include Stones and Beatles so far no one has duplicated, how awesome is that!
ReplyDeleteI just love that your Mom liked those 1st 3... Something for everyone.
DeleteThanks & very sweet on the "No-Dupe's."
Thanks for stopping by, Slu
I forgot! I am the Walrus! My son and my niece once had an argument over who was the walrus and who was coo coo cachoo. You should have been there. Pretty funny.
ReplyDeleteHa... One of my Fave's!!! Cute story. Smiling!!!
DeleteOh my now I am feeling really old---I know all these songs and sang along with them when I was little because my older siblings were always blasting the albums when the parents were out of the house. Thanks for bringing back the memories, Slu!
ReplyDeleteDouble M #2... We're not old, we're just aging very well!!! Ha...
DeleteI'm loving the memories. Thanks for stopping by, Slu
Magical Mystery Tour!! "goo goo gajub y'all"
ReplyDeleteArguably the single largest influence in the musical environment of the 1960s, the Beatles.
And Sly Stone (guess he suceeded just a little too well), a 60's original.
My Man...
DeleteHa... Agreed & well, Yes!!!
Thanks for checking in, Slu
Nancy, oh god yes. With Tommy James, I think We're Alone Now, was more in my soundtrack and Sly... well who didn't get high listening to that? Great list.
ReplyDeleteGotta love Nancy (she's a hoot)... Love Sly!!!
DeleteThanks so much for stopping by, Slu
Great to remember the flashbacks, gotta love the Beatles. They appreciated my favorite artist Buddy Holley, forming their name from his band the crickets. I haven't been on here much in the last few weeks, got the preverbal Sluder illness and had a heart attack a few weeks back. Trying to mend. cuz
ReplyDeleteCuz!!! WTH??? I knew you had been gone for a while. I'm so sorry to hear that and Hope & Pray you are OK. Here's hoping you ARE mending well.
DeleteLove the Beatles... Love Buddy Holly...
So glad you stopped by and please keep me posted... cuz
Agree with all of them, and as embarrassing as it may be to admit love for Nancy Sinatra, when I was younger, I had a whole dance routine worked out to this song in my knee high boots. Hey, my parents thought it was awesome. And I can still listen to that song on repeat for an hour.
ReplyDeletep.s. used to live near beaumont, now living in waxahachie. hello from a fellow texan!
Hello back from a Texan!!!
DeleteI thought long & hard about putting Nancy on here... And I'm glad I did. Just too cool of a video: lol
Thanks so much for stopping by... Much appreciated, Slu
I knew all the songs but the first one. It was a smile-inducing list!
ReplyDeleteHa... You're not the first to not know Hanky Panky. Man, back in the day... lol
DeleteSo glad it brought a smile. Thanks so much for stopping by, Slu
