So, this week, I thought I would tell you about my quest for a "button." Pretty simple, huh??? Well, maybe not... Big Brother is watching us. Hang in there while I try to explain.
The Golden Nugget...
Approximately four years ago, I told Donna I wanted a Jeep. I had always wanted a Jeep. I wanted a "rag-top convertible" and a Jeep was my choice of vehicle. I was driving a Pickup Truck at the time. It was quick. The week I told her, by Saturday afternoon, I had my very first Jeep. I had my rag-top. I also had a "Linen Gold Metallic" Jeep that had me thinking: "What have I done?" Donna affectionately named it "The Golden Nugget."
My 1st Jeep... In all her Gold Glory!!! |
Now, regarding the Gold Color, my oldest Son, Justin, said: "Wow... Cool Color." My youngest Son, Shane, said: "Yikes!!! What were you thinking?" I actually ended up really liking the "Nugget."
Lots of Fun "On the Road" |
But, almost two years after buying the Nugget, I decided I wanted a "Hard-Top." I was tired of velcro and zippers. And so...
My New Baby...
So, I called my guy and told him what I was looking for and very quickly, well, I was in the Hard-Top business...
I was In Love with my New Ride... |
Now, I had me a 6 Speed Hard-Top, and I was smiling!!! Life was good...
Topless... |
Now, two years into my Rubicon, I have two problems I am faced with: 1... I have to manually lift the top off of the Jeep. 2... I have to store the top in my garage while out driving around. So, if I am out and about and the clouds get dark suddenly, well, I am possibly screwed. It has happened. Not fun.
So, I called my guy again and told him I wanted a fancy new "Button." Last Friday, my guy found one. I was thinking that a Button would be nice for a change. Seems simple enough...
Big Brother is Watching...
Last Friday night, I took the Jeep to Car Max to get a quote on its current value. I had a number in mind that I would be happy with. Half way during the evaluation, the evaluator came up to me and said that there was a problem. He said that it appeared that my mileage had been rolled back and therefore, my value on the Jeep would be "significantly lower." And man... he was not joking about significantly lower!!! Like several thousand dollars lower than my number I had in mind. Yikes!!! Maybe I won't get a button.
I was told to get in contact with Big Brother Auto Check on the following Monday morning to see if they could straighten out the mileage disparity. I'm sorry, did you hear me say: An "additional 100,000 miles" that they are questioning??? Holy Smokes!!!
If you change your oil, if you get an inspection, if you rotate your tires, etc., Auto Check is recording your mileage. And I guess that's a good thing, as long as it doesn't work against you.

Luckily, by Tuesday evening, nearly 36 hours later, Big Brother Auto Check confirmed that my mileage was accurate and that the disparity was a typo. By noon Wednesday, my value on the Jeep was back up several thousand dollars due to my mileage being accurate. Car Max even bested my wanted value by $1,000. So, yes, I was smiling and I was headed to see my guy and see about that Button.
I Got Me a Button...
My New Button... |
So, as of late Wednesday afternoon, I had me a New Button... And that New Button put a huge Smile on my face!!! Because, a Roadster came with it... Just sayin'
My New Ride (that has a Button) |
And yes... My New Button Works!!! |
Father's Day??? I'll take it... |
OK, so, as you can see, I kinda like my Button. And I have already given it a pretty good workout. Ain't gonna wipe this smile off my face for a while.
Takin' it "To the House"
Music: This week, my Tune Selection is from the Smashing Pumpkins... A bit of an easy beat for them. A great song: Hit that arrow and give a listen to 1979. Enjoy... (source)
Market Watch: So, through the week, the numbers changed quite a bit, but at the close yesterday, it had all pretty much come right back to where each has been for a few weeks... The Dow closed at 15,176 after a +180 day. Facebook closed at 23.73.
The End: Just want to say Thanks for checking in on Slu's World... As always, much appreciated. Have a great Father's Day Weekend. Check back on Tuesday for another Mix Tape. Til then...
Be safe, be smart, and always Smile... It's "Happy Friday"
adios... vaya con dios

Button, Button, Who's Got the Button? Remember that old game from grammer school? I LOVE your new wheels. My husband is 6'2". Do you think I could get him in and out of that car? Enjoy driving your new toy.
ReplyDeleteD.S.
Not sure if I remember that one... And Thanks!!! He probably could: It's low to the ground and that's what is interesting: Getting in & out. Ha!!! Works OK for us. I love it.
DeleteThanks for dropping by, Slu
Oh man, wouldn't I like to be in your shoes right now... You've been made mate, I'm not jealous but just anxious as to how I'm gonna get one now.
ReplyDelete"Hit the road Jack", as they say. And I'll be sure to look you up when I'm visiting your area too :)

Slu, that car is ridiculously cool!! (The button makes it even cooker. I thought I was awesome using a button to start my car, but this is nothing like that! And it's blue....I'm a bit envious man :)
ReplyDeleteGood for you; I hope she makes you happy. Next week, I need to know her name :)
-Always smiling,
-Michele
*cooler, not cooker :)
DeleteDouble M... Thanks so much!!! I am loving my new button and the Roadster that came with it. So far: Lots of Fun.
DeleteDonna texted me the other day... "Are you in the Roadster?" So, her name might just well become "The Roadster." Ha...
Thanks so much for dropping by, Slu
...and I can live with cooker. It's all good, Slu
DeleteSlu - dude! - jealous doesn't even cut it. I have wanted a badass jeep wrangler my whole life and by the time I could get a jeep, I had to settle for a cherokee because of the kids. Hey - they won't fall out of the open top if ya strap 'em in, right? HA! The color of your first one is amazing. Have never seen that color on a jeep.
ReplyDeleteYour new wheels? FAB! Have fun toolin' around in your new wheels Slu!!
Well, here's HOPING you get that Wrangler sooner rather than later... And they are FUN!!! I would absolutely do it again.
DeleteThe new ride: Thanks, and I am having fun.
Glad you could stop by, Slu
wow, that is sweet! I had the hard top jeep and also had a lot of wet seats and clothing in sudden rain storms...it was a drag to find somewhere big enough to keep the top as well...finally just kept it on and sold it.
ReplyDeleteHa... I loved my Jeep, but yes, it had some "cons."
DeleteI do love my new ride now: Just gonna have some fun with it.
Thanks for stopping by, Slu
Lucky you! All I have is college kids and tuition bills. :0
ReplyDeleteKaren, you are right: I am Lucky & truly Blessed.
DeleteAnd it sounds like you are an Amazing Mom!!! Your Day will come. You keep on keepin' on.
Thanks so much for stopping by, Slu
LOVE your new car--sporty and fun, plus a great color. Lucky you! Just don't show my Hubs--he is still driving the 13 yr. old mini van--mommy mobile.....
