Greetings:
Wow!!! Week #52... One Whole Year of Blogging. Happy Birthday, or Happy Anniversary, to Slu's World. OK, I like the way both sound. I never thought I would make it to this day, and well, lookie here... I'm still Standing!!! And that means I'm Smiling!!!
Yep... One Year Old with #52!!! |
So, a little over one year ago, my co-worker, CJ, showed me her Blog that she had just started. As I was looking at it, I asked her several questions. Among them... How did you do this? How did you do that? As she was explaining the use of certain tools on her Blog Page, all I was thinking to myself was... I want to do this!!! I didn't know the first thing about Blogging and I didn't know anyone, other than, now CJ, that Blogged. What in the world would I write about? Who in the world would read what I would write about? I didn't know the answers to those two questions, but I did know right then and there that I wanted to start a Blog.
And along the way, in addition to doing something that I have come to really, really love, I have made so many New Friends from the Blogging Community. Several of them that are now like Family. As well as Old Friends that stop by and have a look too. A very recent new found friend, Linda, at Mod Mom Beyond IndieDom, just Posted 10 Reasons Why I Blog... A portion of her #3 reason stated: "Blogging is the perfect platform to incorporate all the things that interest me - music, writing, humor, photography, and alcohol
And speaking of Old Friends... I have to say a great BIG, HUGE Thank You to all my Facebook Friends that read this Blog, most of which are from Sharpstown High School (70's) in Houston, Texas. Please know how much I appreciate the time you spend here and the Comments and "Like's" you send my way. They absolutely bring a Smile to this Happy 57 year old face. One friend in particular, whom I will refer to as JCT, I would just like to say that this Blogging World is SCREAMING for you to come aboard and SHARE your stories. I know that once you do and hit that first "Publish" button, you will be hooked forever!!!

My "Area" in the Man-Cave where I spend A Lot of Time... |
And finally, with this 52nd Blog Post, I should pass 10,000 Page Views!!! And that makes me very Happy... That's an average of more than 192 each week and that, for me, is "off the charts." When I started one year ago, my Goal was 75 views, and then, eventually, 100. So, slowly, but surely, Slu's World (The Little Engine That Could) is growing. Again, THANKS to each of you for stopping by and coming back each week and keeping this HUGE SMILE going!!!
Takin' it "To the House"
OK... I have to share this next photo with you, as it is a First(s)!!! Our little Munchkin was near the beach with her Mom & John last Sunday evening and some Fishing broke out... This photo shows her very First Fish, caught on her very First attempt, with her very First bait, on her little "Pink Pole." Congrats to Munchkin.
How's that for a "First Catch?" With a Pink Pole, no Less... Ha!!! |
Market Watch: Status Quo this week as the Dow hung around 15,324 and Facebook dipped slightly to 24.55 at the closing bell yesterday.
The End: So, as I end my 1st full year, I am so excited about the coming year and some of the things I have planned. One NEW area for me will start this coming Tuesday and I am very stoked about it. I hope you will be watching for that. Muchos Gracias and I hope you will keep checking in for more. Til then...
Be safe, be smart and always Smile... It's "Happy Friday"
adios... vaya con dios
Congrats on your first "blog year "! Love reading your Friday posts.

Gosh, I can't believe it's already been a year since you lauched Slu's World. I have enjoyed reading every week. I have been a faithful follower since your first blog. Over the past year, I feel that I have gotten to know and reconnect with you - and that's been really great. I have learned a lot about you as a person, husband, father, friend, and son. Through your blog, I have come to know you how important your family is to you, and that you are completely in love and devoted to Donna. You are both very blessed to have eachother. Your children and grandchildren are precious to you and I have enjoyed all the pictures you proudly post.
ReplyDeleteI can relate to many of the things that you like and find myself laughing out loud at some the hilarious stories you have shared with us.

Slu!!!! I am so proud of you! (I feel like your momma!) You always have a nice word to say and I have thoroughly enjoyed reading your page each week. I was going to write earlier this weekend, but heard about the firefighters. I don't know if you knew any of them personally, but please accept my condolences. I've said it before. You are all heroes. I look forward to what this second year brings to your cute family? More grandchildren? More fish? A new NFL title? I can't wait to see!
