"Little People"

Hey Yo:

So, in lieu of events of the week, I have decided to share some thoughts on some "Little People" in our (that would be Donna & I) World that are a Big Part of our Hearts.

Riley Renee Bates
that would be munchkin
or...  Grand-Baby #1

Munchkin had a good week last week.  I honestly don't know where the time has gone, but she is now 7 years old and in the 2nd GradeHoly Smokes!!!  It seems like just yesterday that one afternoon, Donna told me she needed to speak to me in private in our bedroom.  Never a good sign.  But that conversation was a 'heads up' that there was a "Grand Baby" on the way, a first for us, and although the 'timing' was, in my mind, way too early, she did in fact make an appearance several months later and continues to this day to put a Smile on our faces.

So, last week, Munchkin earned an Art Award at her School for "Good Character."  Kindergarten and 1st Grade were each a bit of a challenge in consistently receiving a "Green Smiley Face" each day for good behavior.  Every day that I spoke to her, I would always ask...  "Did you get a Green today?"  Some days I would get a smile, a loud 'Yes,' and a high five.  Other days, her head would immediately lean downward.  This year, however, she has received a "Green"  each week (a 'Yellow' only here & there) and last week, the Award, earning a huge Smile from Papa.

And this week, because Momma had to work, and Nana (that would be Donna) had to work, Papa got elected (that would be Code for:  Let's get Papa to do it) to attend Thanksgiving Lunch on Wednesday at Munchkin's School...

She Hugged the Spec's right off my nose...  Looking all kinds of Frazzled???
A little more settled...  Ha!!!
They fed us really well...  Go Figure.  It was fun.  Glad I went.

George Sullivan Sluder
that would be little man
or...  Grand-Baby #2

Little Man had himself a bit of an event this week...  On Tuesday, he had a Birthday and turned 2Happy Birthday Buddy.  He lives in Brooklyn, NY and it's a little harder to see him.  On Monday night, Donna & I did some "Face-Time" with George.  That's always fun.  That boy loves him some fire trucks.  We got to see his Fire Truck Books on Face-Time.  Ha!!!  We were in Brooklyn this past August and visited with my 'Little Man' as well as Justin & Courtney (that would be Dad & Mom).

Earlier in the Summer, we met Justin, Courtney, and George in Austin and spent the afternoon with them.  One of my favorite pictures resulted from that visit.  We ended the day bowling and I got a pic of Justin helping George with his very first 'roll' of the bowling ball...

One of my Favorite Pics of these Two Guys...

Malachi (to be determined)
that would be (also to be determined)
or...  Grand-Baby #3

So, yes, we got word several months ago that "#3" was on the way via Lauren, Donna's oldest Daughter.  #3 is going to be a little boy as well.  Yep, we're Smiling.  And this week, well, Lauren went right on inside the '30 Day Window.'  The Due Date is December 9th.

And with those early visits to the Doctor, there is always that picture from the Ultra Sound that, to this day, I have never been able to determine didily squat as to what I'm looking at.  Even when shown, I'm thinking:  Where is he???

I see it...  But I don't see it (him)!!!  Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.

And then, a few weeks ago, Ultra Sound went 3-D for Malachi.  And I can "see clearly now."  Actually, there was a video as well, which was just too cool.  But, below is a pic and you can clearly see:  The Little Guy is coming right along:

Looks like he is Sleeping quite nicely...
All in all, Nana and Papa (that would be Donna & I) are pretty Happy with our 'growing' Family of "Little People."  Lots of Smiles for years to come.

Takin' it "To the House"

Houston Texans Football:  7 Losses in a row:  A Franchise Record.  WOW!!!

Market Watch:  A very good week for the Dow, closing yesterday at 15,876...  An OK week for Facebook, closing yesterday at 48.99...

Music:  How about something a little different???  Some Offspring with Gone Away.  Enjoy...  (source)

The End:  Thanks so much for dropping by.  Makes my Day!!!  Have a great weekend and I hope to see you back next week.  Til then...

Be safe, be smart, and always Smile...  It's "Happy Friday"

adios...  vaya con dios

  1. Awe Slu I imagine you are the best grandfather EVAH!!! Don't you just love those school lunches? I have to admit I miss those days of going to elementary school and eating with my kids. Now they are teenagers and would be mortified if I showed up to embarrass them like that.

  2. I think it is more fun now than when we were raising our own kids. I love being Nana Donna too. We have six grandchildren and one more on the way. The love just goes on and on in our families. How lucky we are to be here, and be a part of their lives. I was feeling sad the other day, because my Mom and Dad are not here to enjoy all these little darlings. They would have just loved to see how our family has grown. I am sure your folks would have loved it too. Oh well. Things are as they are. I just don't take anything for granted. Time goes by fast and I don't want to miss a thing!

Love to you and the other Nana Donna

  6. So much great news all in one post. Congratulations to all of you on Munchkin and Little Man's achievements and on the new baby-to-be.
I used to love meeting my kids at school for lunch. We were allowed to bring in something for them and I'd always pick up their favorite fast food. I like to think that their eyes lit up because of me, but it could have been that bag I was carrying!

  8. Those kids are really growing up fast these days. Happy Birthday to Grand-baby 2 and congrats to Munchkins for receiving that certificate. Make sure you keep it safe to show her when she's 18 yrs old. And now Grand-baby 3 is on it's way. Man, you're going to be very busy. Isn't technology great when you can see all those pictures and he's not even born yet?

Now, I've got a good word of advice for you and Donna. Start saving for their college funds and first cars.
