OK, so this week we are focusing on "Slow Jams," or tunes that are 'Relaxing.' This could be a challenge. Hang in there and let's see what happens.
Our "Hostess With the Mostess" is Jen, from My Skewed View... And our Co-Host is Kristi, from Finding Ninee... I hope you'll click on their Links and find some truly great Music from lots of other participants as well.
Slow Jams... Relaxing... Does that mean 'put you to sleep' (as in a good thing) music??? Is it 'put you at ease' music??? Is it 'get in the hammock and just chill' music??? Is it 'pour your favorite Libation' music??? Is it 'mellow yellow' music??? Or, is it 'lay down beside the one you love' music??? Well, you decide. Here are some Tunes I like that might apply. Once again, these are pulled from my Pandora Like List:
#1: How about we start off with some Sexy Sounds from Chris Botti, one of my Fave's!!! Irresistible Bliss. Enjoy... (source)
#2: Next up, a Live Performance from Robben Ford. A nice tune: Freedom. Enjoy... (source)
#3: Let's change the pace just a bit. From 1974, Stan Webb with Chicken Shack doing a cover of The Thrill is Gone. Enjoy... (source)
#4: I just have to include this next tune. The first time I heard it ALL those years ago, I fell in love with it. Pink Floyd!!! The Great Gig in The Sky. Enjoy... (source)
#5: Next... My Man Jeff Beck!!! Cause We've Ended as Lovers. Enjoy... (source)
#6: And finally, my "Walk Off Home Run." Stevie Ray Vaughn for 'Crying Out Loud.' An awesome sign off, if you will, with Riveria Paradise. Enjoy... (source)
That's it... Wow, this is fun!!! Hope you enjoyed as well. Remember to check in at Jen's for Mix Tape #26... Thanks. Hope to see ya back on Happy Friday. Til then...

DeleteWow Slu! An amazing list for sure. I haven't listened to Robbin Ford in SO LONG. You know we don't have a smooth jazz station in Chicago anymore, CAN YOU FREAKING BELIEVE THAT? Man it was my night time slow down..... Love it all!
ReplyDeleteThanks Jen... Thank goodness for Pandora & the Like.
DeleteBotti is SOOOOOOOOO sexy, and I don't just mean his music.
ReplyDeleteDebster... LOL
DeleteI'm not really a jazz person, but the Chris Botti was interesting. I hadn't heard that version of The Thrill Is Gone, it was good once I could stop measuring it against the King's. You can never miss with SRV or Beck! Fantastic choices.
ReplyDeleteDreamer... Glad you liked it. Smooth Jazz is an awesome experience with the right sound. Thanks!!! Slu
DeleteStevie Ray...just heard him on the radio the other day. Brings back memories of a guitar teacher I had who taught me to play some SRV, although I totally sucked at it. haha Great list Slu!
ReplyDeleteHey Linda... Gotta love SRV!!! Thanks, Slu
DeleteWha-hoo to Pink Floyd. Also, I've never heard of the first three songs before but really liked the Chicken Shack one. How it goes from mellow to rocking is simply awesome. Thanks for the introduction to that one!
ReplyDeleteThanks Kristi... It is indeed a cool tune. Enjoy, Slu
DeleteYes to your list! I'm even going to have a hard time commenting this week.....
ReplyDeletePink Floyd FTW. Love some guitar shredding and you included a healthy dose of that!
Thanks Melissa... Glad you liked, Slu
Delete'cellent guitar stuff!
ReplyDeleteremember having Robbin Ford's first album... loved it.
Jeff Beck... no words necessary, totally the most amazing guitar player alive.
great list this week.
My Man... appreciate it. Always love good Guitar. Thanks, Slu
DeleteChris Botti - new to me. Love him. Love finding new jazz. Except I may be so mellow I have to go nap in my car on my lunch break.
ReplyDeleteHey Yo: How can you help but not love him... He's 'Cool' too. Ha!!! Just don't turn 'Yellow.'
DeleteThanks, Slu
