Holy Smokes!!! This week, we have been told that it's a "Free For All." In other words, pick anything you want. In Jen's own words from last week: "Easy Peasy." Not so fast!!! Maybe not so easy. Because we have used up our "Good Stuff" on all of our previous Mix Tapes. So, again, a bit of a challenge. But then, that's what makes these things so much fun.
Our "Hostess with the Mostess" is Jen, from My Skewed View (With Mix Tape #25)... and our Co-Host is Kristi, from Finding Ninee... Hope you can click on their Links and see what everybody else is chiming in with. It will be awesome as usual...
In order to come up with my List of "Pick Anything You Want," I have scrolled my entire Pandora "Like" list and selected some tunes that, 1, I like, and 2, I have not used in any previous Mix Tape List. I'm gonna be all 'over the map.' So, hang with me for a bit and I truly hope you enjoy my List.
#1: I want to get you in the mood to 'Groove' right at the 'get-go' here, so I'm starting out with a tune from Creedence Clearwater Revival. From 1969, Keep On Chooglin'. Enjoy... (source)
#2: Next, let's slow it back down a bit. From 'Bad-Boy' Johnny Cash, he 'covers' a Nine Inch Nails tune. From 2003, Hurt. Enjoy... (source)
#3: How about some Beatles??? From the 'Love Version,' A Day in The Life. Enjoy... (source)
#4: I Love me some 'Smooth Jazz.' Here: Some Future Rhythm Foundation with Soul Dredging. Enjoy... (source)
#5: All the way from left field, Amos Lee with Sweet Pea. Enjoy... (source)
#6: The very first time I heard this next tune, I immediately liked it. The Cranberries with Pretty. Enjoy... (source)
#7: And now, for my "Walk Off Home Run." Bob Marley & The Wailers with Jamming. Love me some Bob Marley!!! Enjoy... (source)
And that's it. I loved it!!! Thanks Jen, with Mix Tape #25... Hope to see ya back on Happy Friday. Til then...
Be safe, be smart, and always show your Smile. It's Twisted Mix Tape Tuesday.

You are so interesting Slu. I have never heard any of those songs except for the Bob Marley tune. Way to shake things up!!!
ReplyDeleteDebster... Smiling!!! That's what I was shooting for.
DeleteAppreciate the visit, Slu
Stu, an awesome list of anything you want, especially the Beatles.
ReplyDeleteThanks Michelle... The Beatles tune is nice, agreed.
DeleteThanks for stopping by, Slu
Awesome list Slu! Hurt is one of the few that I can absolutely say the cover was better than the original. Somehow I've never heard that CCR and great Cranberries pick. You scored biggest with the Bob Marley though.
ReplyDeleteDreamer... Thanks!!! I love the JC cover. Sad, but very good.
DeleteGlad you liked. Love Marley. Thanks for stopping by, Slu

ReplyDeleteThanks again. So glad you liked, Slu
DeleteGot some great classics here, Slu. While my hubs would take Creedence Clearwater Revival, I go for the Beatles every time!
ReplyDeleteThanks Meno Mama...
DeleteI'll take both (lol). Glad you stopped by, Slu
You gotta love these TTMTs... (allow me to explain), when someone has a song that I have never heard, and it comes on the radio like, a day or too before!
ReplyDeletehad
the Johnny Cash 'Hurt' Sunday I was driving somewhere, listening to WHUS (college station) and that song comes on... now, I don't (and didn't) know the song at the time...but it was, 'hmm, hey that's Johnny Cash...wonder at what point in his career this was...'
Then today, your list.
I love it when that happens.
Ha... I love it when that happens (too).
DeleteWhat it's all about. Cool tune too. Thanks, Slu
Johnny didn't so much cover that tune as he did Decimate the original!
ReplyDeleteAnd Sweet Pea made me Hap-pea =)
TP... You are right!!! Totally Agree.
DeleteAnd that makes me happy as well. Thanks, Slu
This is awesome Slu! The most versatile list yet! I love it, and Bob Marley... everyone needs them some Bob Marley!
ReplyDeleteThanks Jen... Ha, yes, you are right.
DeleteAppreciate the visit, Slu
Johnny Cash does some amazing covers - this is apparently just another one! I also enjoyed the Bob Marley injection - thanks for a fun set of songs!
ReplyDeleteAnd Thank You... Yes, he does that cover amazingly well. I have wanted to work that tune onto a List for a few weeks now. Got it. Love Marley as well.
DeleteThanks for stopping by, Slu
Amazing list!! I love Johnny Cash sing Hurt. The Beatles, Bob Marley, and CCR, they all rock. I have a love for almost any genre of music as long as I can relate to it, or the song mixed with the singer makes me feel. Sometimes I enjoy just the music, no lyrics. Oh, The Cranberries are great too.
ReplyDeleteThank You Donetta...
DeleteSo glad you liked it. It is so much fun putting these together and then checking out all the others as well.
Thanks for the visit, Slu
very moody but in a happy way
ReplyDeleteThis makes me think that if you invited me over for dinner, the music would set this very social mood for the night.
well done
Hey Lance... I'm down. Sounds good. Ha!!!
DeleteAppreciate it and thanks for stopping by, Slu
Slu,
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean about feeling like the "anything" theme this week was hard and that we've used up all our good stuff (I really liked the decades ones, personally) but you totally nailed it. Again! I had no idea that Johnny Cash sang Hurt. I love his version and thank you for introducing it to me. Also? The Cranberries ROCK. Love them. Excellent music choices this week. I had also never heard Sweet Pea and am bopping along to it as I type this comment. So good. Downloading on my phone. What a cool voice - could almost be a woman or a man singing...
Really, really enjoyed.
Ha... Thanks!!! It was hard but fun. Glad you liked. Love Sweet Pea.
DeleteThanks for stopping by, Slu
