It's Twisted Mix Tape Tuesday (The Beauty)

Hey Yo:

OK, so this week, our 'Marching Orders' are to list "Beautiful Songs."  For me, a bit of a challenge.  When I saw the 'theme,' I knew instantly of just one song.  So, we'll see how this shakes out below.  But, I've got some work to do.  Ha...

Our "Hostess with the Mostess" is Jen, over at My Skewed View with Mix Tape #24...  Her Co-Host, as usual, is Kristi, over at Finding Ninee...  I hope you will click on their Links and check out all the other participants and their 'Beautiful Songs' as well.

So...  I'll save my fave for last.  But, I think I've put together a bit of a different, but, I hope, decent List for you.  Check it out and I hope you enjoy, as usual.

#1:  The first time I heard this tune, I truly liked its beauty and the way Carrie sung it.  Carrie Underwood with Home Sweet Home.  Enjoy...  (source)

#2:  I have always thought this next tune was a very beautiful tune, period.  The Allman Brothers with Melissa.  Enjoy...  (source)

#3:  This next tune is a personal favorite of my Little Bride.  She loves it and I just had to include it.  Bryan Adams with Have You Ever Really Loved a Woman.  Enjoy...  (source)

#4:  Such a beautiful voice from Adele.  And I think this is a beautiful song.  Please enjoy her singing Skyfall...  (source

#5:  OK, gonna change it up a bit here for the next two.  Back, for a moment, to my Smooth Jazz likings.  First up, a tune that I really like (or love) from Art of Noise titled Love.  Please give this one a chance.  Enjoy...  (source)

#6:  Next, another tune from my Smooth Jazz collection.  From Moby, Sunspot.  Enjoy...  (source)

OK...  Several years ago, Donna and I sat down at the house to watch a movie we had rented.  50 First Dates with Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore.  A decent movie, I suppose.  But in the final 5 minutes, a song played that literally blew me away.  I had not heard this particular version before.  That night, I thought to myself that, for me, this had to be the most Beautiful Song I had ever heard.

#7:  And so, here is my favorite.  Singing Somewhere Over the Rainbow, Israel "IZ" Kamakawiwo'ole.  I hope you enjoy...  (source)

And that's it.  I hope you enjoyed.  Thanks so much for stopping by.  I hope to see ya back on Happy Friday.  Til then...

Be safe, be smart, and always show your Smile...  It's Mix Tape Tuesday.

adios...  vaya con dios

  4. I SOOO wanted to include IZ this week, but felt I shouldn't, as he made an appearance on my TMTT not too long ago - thank you for ensuring he was represented this week.

And thanks also for the reminder about Art of Noise - a pure genius choice for this week Slu!

  6. this has been a real tough one this week, really like eclectic-vibe on your list (and a lot of the others*)

Looks like everyone is picking up on the 'move the listener thing' about beautiful music.

    Nice tunes

It was tough. But after scanning my entire Pandora list, it made it a little easier, for me anyway.

  7. I love Melissa, and I truly believe it is one of the most beautiful songs out there. I love to sing it, it is one of those songs you just want to sing softly....
And Art of Noise? Talk about blast from the past! I used to listen to them all of the time!
I have mentioned before how I can't really listen to that version of Somewhere Over the Rainbow because it seems almost sad to me. And I don't do sad, but I certainly recognize the sheer beauty, which is probably why it makes me sad.
    Beautiful list Slu!

  8. Melissa- obviously it has a very special place in my heart, since I was named after it. I used to hate hearing that song as a kid because I'd get so embarrassed. I've learned to embrace it in my older age. Two years ago at a bar, my friends got a singer to incorporate Happy Birthday into it for me. Instant red face, but I adored them for it.

I included Allman Brothers this week too. I just never get sick of them. The music, the lyrics and the memories I have tied to them make me smile every time.

  11. The Exact Same Song by Iz was on my list tonight. You're the coolest. I was never a fan of jazz until my last dude. Have you ever heard of Francis Feese? He played with a bunch of the great ones. That was my last dude's dad. I have a CD that is on Tucker's goodnight mix...
Excellent list. Every week? I like you even more.

  14. Oh wow Slu - Melissa is an awesome choice! I love the Allman Brothers so much. And Izzy...I heard that song the other day while I was getting my hair colored. I'm not gonna lie. I shed a tear. I told the colorist it was the ammonia, so this is between you and me.
